Eastre A truly lovely time by Madrina Dini of Deanic Tradition Pantheacraft (All Thea Craft)

From http://pantheacraft.blogspot.co.uk/2017/03/a-truly-lovely-time.html

I had a truly wonderful two days of Eastre with my family. Yesterday morning I decorated my hestia with Eastre decoration and flowers; luckily my husband, who works shifts, was available in the afternoon; so when we had collected our son from school, he had an eastre-egg and eastre-bunny treasure hunt in our home – then we all had cake and chocolate eggs 🙂
Today I served the Rite of Sacrifice in the morning after school run.
What does not come across in a blog-post is how absolutely delightful these two days have been – how happy and elated all three of us have felt, how we enjoyed the decoration, the special time together – the sense of great joy and hope – feeling so blessed! My husband and son are absolute darlings at any time – they so enjoy the natural spiritual aspect of our religion. Even without participation in religious rites or prayers – they love being part of a Deanic hestia 🙂

Eastre / Eostre / Ostara Scriptures part II

From https://deanic.com/2017/04/13/eastre-scriptures-ii/

Angels depicted by Sulamith Wulfing

9) And when the time was at hand, two of the Janati descended, one on either side of Her, and She went with them into Heaven.

12) And thus began Her dear and glorious reign. And for the children of Heaven, Her very Presence was the completion of their joy. 13) And She poured forth Her Grace and Blessing from Her hands upon them and upon the Earth. And Her Grace and Blessing were as rays of Perfect Light which penetrate the heart and flood the soul.

It is said, in Kabbalistic and Gnostic Traditions, that Sophia/Shekinah continuously (Eternally) Ascends and Descends. This is how we understand the Eternal Now. It is the same in the Myth of Kore/Persephone, each year, She descends and ascends.

This idea, of things happening in the Eternal Now, is a very hard concept for us to grasp while we are living in the Realm of Time.

Those who have had NDE’s often report that there is no time or space in the spiritual world, which we call Avala, the Outer Realm of Perfection. They will state that their time on Earth seems to have happened in the blink of an eye.

“When you die, everything stops and you enter eternity. It is like finally getting to the nanosecond, where time stops. Like a watch, our body stops at that time. Yet our spirit and consciousness continue to live on in a dimension beyond sequential time. We go beyond nanoseconds into a space-time measurement we cannot know here on earth. It is the eternal now, where past, present, and future are all merged into one. Eternity is the present, the now that never ends.” (Dr. Gerard Landryhttp://www.near-death.com/science/research/time.html#a04.

This is why, when we experience each holy day in our calendar, we are truly experiencing that Eternal Moment out of time. We can truly say that the Holy Daughter is Eternally Ascending and Descending, because that is the Nature of Eternity.

And so, at the same time that the Holy Daughter is Immanent with us as the World Soul; She is simultaneously in the Realm of Perfection of Fullness with the Children of Heaven

(Children of the Earth and Heaven are capitalized not because the Children are Divine, but because Children of the Earth/Heaven is a proper title for humanity.)

I have explained in the past that liturgy is a spiritually magickal act. That act serves to unite Heaven and Earth in the meeting place of the altar, shrine, chapel or temple where it is being served.

When we are at liturgy, we are facing the Presence of Heaven. The Veil is barely there. It is said that angels are present. (My mother saw an angel walk across the altar when she was 14). Certainly, the Janati are present.

4) And She showed them how to offer Sacrifice to the Mother of All things.

From our scriptures, we see that it pleases Our Lady when we offer Sacrifice, just as did the faithful Jewish women of old. (Jer. 44: 17). And so we have both, the Rite of Sacrifice that we serve on the Full Moons and the Great Liturgy which we serve on a Trinity Day (Foradi, Sunnadi or Lunadi: Sat./Sun./Mon).

During the liturgy, Our Lady comes to us, from the East, just beyond the Veil of Time. We bow our heads as She enters and stands before us.

Thus continues the main portion of the Communion Rite:

16) And She entered the great Temple of Heaven, where the spirits of the Earth’s children were gathered at the Sacrifice, even as their souls were gathered upon the Earth.

(This verse has been slightly adapted in the Janite liturgy. It reads:  And She entered the Great Temple of Heaven where the Seven Janati were gathered at the Sacrifice, even as the Children of Dea were gathered upon the Earth.)

And so, She has entered the Great Temple before us! Here we are, in the Presence of the Holy Daughter! We bow in reverence before Her!

And She stood at the Great Altar and took up a wheaten loaf and spoke, saying: 18) Like to the corn, My Soul was cut down by the scythe of darkness and like to the corn did it rise anew. 19) For I am the ear of corn that is reaped in silence.

And She said: Like to the grain was my Soul broken (Janite:shattered) between the stones of death (Janite: Fate). And saying thus, She broke the Bread between Her hands.

And further:

22) And She poured out Her Spirit from Her hands into a Great Chalice and Her Spirit lay as wine within the Chalice.

23) And She said: Even as you have offered Me bread in sacrifice, so I give to you the Bread of My  Body (Soul in the Janite); and as you have poured out libations of wine to Me, so I pour out the Eternal Libation of My Eternal Spirit.

And so, because we offer to Her bread and wine during the Rite of Sacrifice, She, in turn, gives us the most heavenly, most exquisite gifts of Her Soul and Spirit.

This most radiant communion rite is seemingly inspired from the Mythos of Kore/Persephone and I would not be surprised if the communion rite of the Eluesinian Mysteries might not have been so very different.

During liturgy, we are truly in Her Heavenly Presence. The priestess is but Her channel through which She, from the Heavenly Altar, sends Her Graces and Energies and pours them into the wine and bread in order to gift us and to nourish us.

As the priestess says when distributing the Bread: May the Soul of Our Lady nourish your soul and the Wine: May the Spirit of Our Lady nourish your spirit

Thus, the Eastre Scriptures teach us how to worship Our Lady through both the Rite of Sacrifice and the Great Liturgy. They teach us that She is right there with us; She is Present with us as Our High Priestess; She Who stands before the Heavenly Altar, performing the Sacrifice in union with and through Her handmaid.

The Holy Daughter has three titles in scripture: Princess, Daughter of Wisdom and Priestess. All three are visible in the Eastre scriptures as she, the Princess of the World has become the Princess of heaven; She, as the Daughter of Wisdom teaches us many things and She, as the High Priestess leads us in Sacrifice

She is both Immanent, as the World Soul and Transcendent, as the High Priestess in Heaven. She is the Perfect Bridge between Heaven and Earth as She leads us back to Our Heavenly Mother and our True Home.

Kore

And as She walked, the children of the Earth threw blossoms before Her and though Her feet rested on them, yet, they were not bruised. 2) And She reigned over all the Earth, bringing all Nature back to life and all life back to the true law and rhythm of Nature.  And the world knew Her as its Princess. 3) And the children of the Earth were filled with love for Her, and gathered about Her with tears of joy, touching Her robes and giving themselves to Her in their hearts. The Mythos of the Divine Maid Chapter VII, 1-3 SMR edition

These passages beautifully illustrate the Janite concept of the Holy Daughter as the World Soul. In the above passage, the children of the Earth are able to see and touch the Divine Princess. But, we must remember that these passages are not meant to be taken literally. They are part of a description of a Cosmic Drama which takes place out of time.

Sophia by Pamela Matthews

For Janites, the Princess of the World, as the World Soul, truly revives and sustains all of Nature. And while She did not ‘walk’ among us, there are those who have had visions of Her, especially in connection with Nature. Here are but a few, some I have mentioned in the past:

~

Among several Russian mystics who had visions of Sophia, Vladimir Solovyov had three, the first when he was only 9 years old. She appeared as a beautiful woman–“an image so radiant and powerful that he would come to pursue its meaning throughout his adult life.” (Kristi A. Groberg, “The Eternal Feminine: Vladimir Solov’ev’sVisions Of Sophia,” in Alexandria Journal #1, ed. David Fideler, 77).

His second vision:

I said to her: O, blossom of a deity!
You’re here, I sense it–why haven’t you revealed
Yourself to my eyes since childhood years?

And no sooner had I thought this prayer
Than everything was filled with a golden azure,
And before me she shined once more–
But only her face–it alone. . . .

I said to her: your face has appeared,
But I want to have a look at all of you. . . .

“Be in Egypt!” a voice within me sounded.
 (Groberg, “Eternal Feminine,” 81)

From his third vision of Sophia he wrote:

And in the purple of the heaven’s splendor,
With eyes filled with an azure fire,
You looked like the first radiance
Of a universal and creative day. . . .

I saw everything, and everything was one thing only–
A single image of female beauty. . .
The infinite fit within its dimensions:
Before me, in me–were you alone.

O, radiant woman! In you I am not deceived:
In the desert I saw all of you. . .
Those roses will not wither in my soul wherever life’s wave may speed.

This third vision changed him, forever.

Let it be known: today the Eternal Feminine In an incorruptible body is descending to Earth. In the unfading light of the new goddess Heaven has become one with the deeps.

Vladimir Solovyov~

Russian theologian and mystic, Sergei Bulgakov had a vision of Sophia within the context of Creation. He saw Her in the mountains and in Nature.

Therefore Sophia is twofold, at once Divine and creaturely—above and before creation and “in” creation. The world is created in Sophia and Sophia, at the same time, is in the world, throughout it, in the form of divine energies and spiritual beings, as its boundary. Hence creation is, as it were, “the separation of Sophia’s potentiality from her actuality.” In the world, Sophia is actualized—as the earth’s eros for heaven, all creation “longing for liberation from the bondage of corruption, for the radiance of Sophianic light, for beauty and transfiguration.” http://ivashek.com/en/texts/554-sophia-the-wisdom-of-god.

Through-out Her pre-Christian and post-Christian ‘history’, Sophia is associated with Creation and entering Creation (She is immanent with us as the World Soul.)  She has been known as “Perfect Nature”.  But, as with the Divine Feminine in general, She has long been demoted from Her original status.

  1. Her divine status, evident from her speeches, does not easily fit into monotheism. (Meaning Patriarchal monotheism. PL.)
  2. Her teachings are rooted in life, not in obedience to rules, gods or priests; these teachings demand individual integrity and justice in the marketplace and royal court, and are achieved through clear perception and devotion to her, Wisdom, and by abandoning “marketplace consciousness”–giving up the quest for gold & possessions.
  3. She is associated with the natural order and meaning of creation, rather than the revelation and salvation of monotheistic religions. Sophia had many of the characteristics of earlier wisdom goddesses who carry the banner of the supremacy, primacy, and justice of the natural order of the cosmos rather than the capricious brutal rule of man whose focus is on profit and domination.
  4. Her gender is unacceptable in religions that deify only the male. The strenuous effort of Hebrew prophets to turn their people away from the worship of popular local deities to an ever-stricter monotheism admitted no divine reality save one demanding a wifeless male god.

http://www.sophiaandthedragon.com/sophia/soul_of_world.htm

“Male-oriented spiritual paths generally lead the seeker to leave the world, to abandon its call to power and prestige.  But women are already outside the power structure.  For woman then the “direction” of the spiritual path is not to leave the world, but to enter it.” http://www.sophiastemple.com/goddess-sophia/ (Note: Just as the Divine Sophia enters the World as its Soul).

Sophia is seen as being expressed in all creation and the natural world.

The Holy Daughter, in the Form of Sophia, is re-emerging in this world. She is slowly, but surely, being freed of Patriarchal chains. She is the Soul of Nature and She shares Her Soul with us.

With every flower we see sprouting to greet the Spring Sun; with each baby leaf budding upon the branch; with each soft breeze that caresses our cheek, there is the Presence of the Holy Daughter in the Form of Sophia; She Who brings all of Her Creation back to life. And, through Her words of Wisdom, She speaks to us who are gathered before Her. Through the sharing of Her Soul, we are able to ‘touch Her robes’.

“I love you. Love me. I am Sophia.”

Spring, a Season of the Holy Daughter (Vernal Equinox / 20 March)

From https://deanic.com/2017/03/23/the-sacred-season-of-spring/

Quite joyfully, it is the Sacred Season of Spring, the Season of the Holy Daughter as the Great Dove of the Waters.

While some Traditions honor the Celestial Mother as the Great Dove of the Waters, in the Janite Tradition, this title is applied to the Holy Daughter as She is closely associated with East and Water, a feminine Element.

One of  the two ‘Faces/Powers/Forms’ of the Holy Daughter is Madria Grace, Whose feast day is 5 Columbina/March 25.  Madria Grace is the Guardian of East and Water. She is also the Mistress of healing, which we associate with water (sacred wells, etc.). Holy Water, water that has been especially blessed, also conveys, transmits and permeates through-out all that it touches, the Divine Energies of Grace.  And so it is that through Her Face/Form of Madria Grace, the Holy Daughter is very closely associated with the Sacred Element of Water.

(A side-note to priestesses and deaconesses: A reminder that the color of the Element of Water is blue and so blue is the Elemental color of Spring. The colors of the robes of Madria Grace are pink and green. So, it follows that our altar cloths are blue while our veils, shawls/sashes are green/pink. For those who wear the Sacred Symbol pendant of the Season, it is, of course, the Dove.)

As is traditional, we face East when we serve our liturgies and rites. It is indicated in both our liturgy and in our scriptures that when we stand before our own altar on  Earth, we are standing before the Presence the Holy Daughter at the Heavenly altar.

We have come before Your Earthly altar within Ekklesia, in union with the Great Janati Who stand before Your Celestial Altar in Heaven. (The Great Liturgy, Janite edition.)

And She entered the Great Temple of Heaven, where the Seven Janati were gathered at the Sacrifice, even as the Children of Dea were gathered upon the Earth.

And She stood at the Great Altar and took up a wheaten loaf and spoke, saying: (The Great Liturgy, and verses 16 and 17 of The Mythos of the Divine Maid (Kora),  Janite editions.

For we know that as we stand before this altar within Ekklesia, we stand, at once, before Your Celestial Altar, which is both in Heaven and in every place where Your children come together in Your Name. (The Great Liturgy, Janite edition and the Rite of Sacrifice).

When I first entered the Deanic world, it took me a long time to get used to the Cardinal directional/Elemental system that we received from the Madrians. But now, I would never consider using any other system, whether Eastern or Western. The system we inherited from our fore-sisters is perfect for our Faith, for the Mysteries, for the Times, for the Seasons… it is ultimate perfection in every way and a great Blessing for all Deanic devotees.

I slowly came to understand that Water is the most appropriate Element for East and Spring because it renews and replenishes all life, just as Spring brings forth a great renewal and replenishing of manifest Creation.

Water, when blessed, becomes a carrier of the information, intent and energies of grace. It becomes holy water which cleanses our souls and renews our spirits.  Not only does it purify us from within, but it also washes impurities from our bodies. And so, Water cleans and rejuvenates us on both the inside and the out.

This integral interconnection of Water with the Sacred Season of Spring is reflected in the dewdrop on a newly budded flower. It’s luminosity shines within the grace-filled waters of Lustration, Baptism and Mikvah. It refracts the Seven into rainbow-hued facets of the One Diamond of Dea.

It is through Water that Life is born. It is through Water that Life is renewed. It is through Water that life is resurrected.

Water is associated with priestesshood. Where the Element of Water embodies intuition, spiritual cleansing, spiritual purity, primordial emotion, grace, psychic sensitivity and the attuning of the subconsciousness, all of which are embedded in the priestesshood, it may be considered the Second Primary Element of the Priestesshood after Spirit.

The Great Dove of the Waters.

We have now seen how the Holy Daughter is intimately associated with the Element of Water. How is She the Great Dove?

We must remember that in the ancient world, the dove was always the symbol of the goddess. To those of the time of Jesus, the dove symbol of the Holy Spirit would have readily been recognized as a Feminine symbol. (See this great article: http://ancestorsandarchetypes.weebly.com/dove-goddess.html).

And more and more, many Christians have come to realize what the ancient Syrian Christians believed and taught: the Holy Spirit is Feminine.

We read in Genesis (the origins of which predates Judaism) And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. The Spirit of God was the Feminine Holy Spirit Whose symbol is the Dove.

Sophia is often said to appeared in the form of a White Dove. 1)

There are many Christians who believe that Sophia and the Holy Spirit are One. 2)

The Dove is the primary Symbol of the Holy Daughter, Who, in Janite Tradition, is image-based upon the Divine Sophia. The Holy Daughter, She Who is the Daughter of Light, She Who is the Daughter of Wisdom, is the Three-fold Dove: the Great Dove of the Waters, the Dove of the Sacrifice and the Dove of Peace. (The Dove of Sacrifice is from our liturgy.)

The Holy Daughter, Water, East, Dove, Madria Grace, Dawn and Spring, all are both mystically and symbolically intertwined to weave the whole Mystery that is the Resurrection of All Life. For not only does She share Her Soul with us, but She gathers the Divine Sparks within us and carries them back to Her Mother, where we may drink from the Waters of the Eternal Spring.

Happy and Blessed Eastre / Ostara (on Hiatus / Vernal Equinox First Day of Spring / March 20)

Happy and Blessed Eastre, everyone!

Happy First Day of Spring.

The Awakening – Jonathon Earl Bowser

Eastre is actually an ancient word for Spring. This is the source of the name of the Goddess, Ostara/ Eostra, Eostre, Eastra, etc. She was the Great Mother Goddess of the Saxon people in Northern Europe. This was first asserted by the Christian monk, Venerable Bede  who lived from 632-735.

The following Deanic Traditions are now observing the Vernal Equinox rather than Hiatus: The Lucienne Tradition, the Pantheacraft Tradition and the Janite Tradition.

Eastre, the celebration of the Holy Daughter as the Holy Soul of the World/Cosmos. Several of us were remarking on how ‘right’ it felt. It was truly joyful and joy-filled. Though my day began with a frigid 11 degrees F (- 11.6 Celsius) with a foot (.3 meters) of snow on the ground,  by afternoon, it was warm and sunny and the snow was melting away.

When I got up this morning and for the first time in my life, experienced the Divine Feminine Eastre on the Vernal Equinox, the first Day of Spring, it felt exhilarating and oh, so very, very right. This feast day has Divine Feminine origins. How fitting it is to keep the holy ancient Divine Feminine feast day on the actual vernal equinox! It feels so mystical and magickal.

My feminine intuition and that of others in the JOP understood that Eastre should be on the first day of Spring.

Ostara, Eástre seems therefore to have been the divinity of the radiant dawn, of upspringing light, a spectacle that brings joy and blessing,…

I love: Our Lady of Up-springing Light. Our Lady of the Dawn. Our Holy World Soul.

The Feast of Eastre, like the liturgy, like all our feasts of the Sacred Cosmic Drama, falls ‘eternally, out of time’ and so it is entirely appropriate that not only is the ancient feast of Eastre celebrated on the vernal equinox in the Janite and Pantheacraft Traditions, but also that this, the most holiest, sacred time of the year, falls ‘out of time’, reflecting the fact that this is an Eternally, on going Cosmic Drama because…. until every last one of our souls has been assumed unto Our Lady, the Celestial Mother, High Queen of Heaven, the Holy Daughter will always, always be with us. She will always be an intimate part of us and us of Her because, thanks to Her Sacrifice, we share the same soul.

My liturgical scripture reading for tonight was The Mythos of the Divine Maid, Chapter VII. So beautiful. So truly beautiful. But during my celebration of the Janite liturgy, where the Bread represents Soul and not Body, I realized that for Janites, the following verses might read:

6: But I shall unite you all who love Me in one great Soul. 7) The highest and the lowest, the living and the dead, those who falter at the door and those who have climbed the highest tower, all shall be one in My Soul, which I have given to the world and all shall be nourished by my Spirit.

This, is exactly what Janites believe. And in liturgy, the white wine is transmuted into Her Spirit and the bread is transmuted into Her Soul.

All praise the Most Holy Daughter, Divine Maid (Kora). Like the Shekinah, like Sophia, You have suffered a Divine Shattering so that you may share Your Soul with all Your children. Thank you for making us One with You. Blessed are You, Dea Filia!

Hiatus / 20 March meaning beyond space and out of time

Hiatus meaning beyond space and out of time.
A Sacred year and a day

A lunar year (13 lunar months of 28 days) plus a day is a solar year (365 days). [Wiki]

It was in 46 B.C. that Julius Caesar ordered the adoption of the Egyptian Solar Calendar of 365 days.
He made 1 January the start of the year.

Spring / Vernal Equinox
Dates and Times
each year for 1096 years
1452 – 2547
Listed for four time zones and in two calendars
http://ns1763.ca/equinox/eqindex.html

The Coming Age periodical Issue 1 was published in the sacred month of Astraea November 28 – December 25,
year 118 after the apparitions of Lourdes,  [1858], so this would also have been in 1976 for the Sacred year. In the
secular calendar it was the Winter of 1975.

Referring to http://ns1763.ca/equinox/vern1788-2211.html the Spring / Vernal Equinox for
1975 was on the day of 21st March at the hour of 05 57minutes (24 hour clock) in
Universal Time which is equivalent to Greenwich Mean Time or GMT.

Hence our fore sister founders of the Dea-nic faith started the Sacred year on the Spring / Vernal Equinox, 21st
March.

From 2008 until 2043 the Spring / Vernal Equinox is on the 20th March at varying times.

The meaning of 28 Moura March 19: The Divine Shattering Day from a Janite Perspective

From https://deanic.com/2017/04/05/the-meaning-of-the-day-of-lustrationkala-from-a-janite-perspective/

~

Madria Erin, in her most engaging and thoughtful post on Kala, asked the question, what is the full thealogy of the day, if the Daughter is not dead?

Our Scriptures teach that the Holy Daughter suffered a torturous Descent down through the Realms before Her Death. These scriptural verses, taken altogether, are seemingly inspired by the Mythos of Inanna, Persephone, and the Passion of the Christ. Our scriptures continue with the story of how after Her death, the Holy One went to the deepest, darkest realms in order to carry the Light of the Mother to every corner of existence. (Jesus was said to have descended into hell, after death, to free the souls waiting there. Persephone, of course, spent six months in Hades.) On the Holy Feast of Eastre, as evidenced in the Mythos of Persephone, the Daughter was rescued and resurrected by Her Mother.

And though, I cannot speak for Filianists, I would assume that Kala is spent in the remembrance of the Passion and Death of the Holy Daughter. (We must keep in mind that there were many dead and resurrecting pre-Christian gods. This timeless myth extends thousands of years B. C.)

There is an hauntingly beautiful Filianic lament in honor of Mari-Anna that is often chanted on this day. {Anna is the name of the Holy Daughter in Filianic Tradition. Though it is said to come from the name Hannah, it also stems from Inanna and Jana as in Di-Jana or Di-Anna. Jana is correctly pronounced Yanna}.

Demeter and Persephone

We must also be mindful of the fact that the name, Demeter, translates to God the Mother and Persephone (per seph o nay), before Her Descent into Hades, was called Kore (Kor-eh or Kora), which means the Maid/Maiden or Daughter. It was after the Divine Kora returned to the Earth from the Underworld that She was called Persephone. (1)

I and both of my bishops, believe that the Eleusinian Mysteries, served in honor of Demeter/Persephone, were truly based upon the Divine Mother and Daughter.

These ancient rites were liturgical in nature and had a Divine Communion Rite. The Eluesinian Mysteries were based on a Mother-God and Daughter-God Who were separated, the Daughter descended into hell, and Her resurrection was celebrated, annually.  During this Rite, devotees truly believed that they were receiving the Body of Demeter,’ God the Mother’,  through the Communion Bread.

The deeply meaningful and mystical Communion Rite of the original Madrian liturgy, part of which is to be found in our scriptures, was inspired by the Myth of Persephone. Though Persephone did not die, per se; rather, She was trapped in the underworld where Her Mother shattered the gates of Hades in order to rescue Her; this Mythos may be considered symbolic of a death and resurrection. Certainly, the resurrection of all life on Earth followed the return of Persephone from the under-world.

In Sophian Tradition, there is also a Communion Rite that may be based upon Proverbs.

Just as Filianists and other Matriarchal scholars have managed to discover the pre-Patriarchal roots of many Goddess-based myths, in Janite Tradition, the Cosmic Drama of the Holy Daughter is founded upon the pre-Patriarchal Mythos of Sophia/Shekinah (see http://www.suppressedhistories.net/articles/GnosticGoddessFallenSophia.pdf).

The Divine Sophia is pan-religious, meaning, She is not confined to one religion. She is actually pre-Christian and all may worship Her. She is the Image/Form that Janites use for the Holy Daughter. Included in the Mythos of Shekinah/Sophia is the Divine Shattering.

Sources for this Myth of the Divine Shattering of Shekinah/Sophia may be found within certain traditions of Kabbalism, in Gnostic schools of thought and in ancient Syrian Gnostic Christianity.

In Kabbalism, this Descent is not considered to be the punishment it is in Gnostic Christianity; it is a voluntary act on the part of Lower (meaning immanent—so Daughter-Form) Shekinah out of Her love for the Children of Israel and this Descent through lower-vibrational density resulted in the Shattering of Her Soul.

Unlike Kabbalism, the Christian Sophian Tradition, unfortunately, blames this Shattering on a mistake that Sophia supposedly made by trying to create without Her Male Partner. We, and many modern Christians and Sophian devotees, do not accept this Patriarchal view of Lower (again, meaning immanent-so Daughter-Form) Sophia. She is said, in ancient sources, to always do the will of Her Mother (Higher Sophia) and so, She descended down through the Realms, like the Shekinah (they are One and the same Being) to be immanent with the Children of the Earth, but this torturous Descent down through the ever increasingly denser and darker dimensions eventually caused Her Soul to Shatter. This Shattering, as taught in Shekinan/Sophian Mythos, did not cause Her death, rather, it caused Her to become the World Soul or the Holy Soul of the World (of all of us and all of Nature).

In contrast to the Mythos of Persephone, the Divine Sophia is not saved by Her Mother. Rather, She, like Quan Yin, chooses to remain immanent with us. She becomes an integral Part of us, to unite as One Being with us, until the day we desire nothing but Perfect Love and so at that ending of the time of our Soul Journey, She ascends with us, assuming our souls unto the Celestial Mother in the Heavenly Realm of Bliss, the Pleroma, our True Home.

Kuan Yin – She who hears all the suffering in the world

I picture the Divine Shattering of the Holy Daughter like an hologram that has been shattered into a million pieces. Each shattered piece (us) is still a reflection of the Whole and yet, the Core of the Original Wholeness is still intact because the Holy Daughter is God and God cannot disintegrate. She cannot die.

The Holy Daughter is like the Central Piece of the Original Hologram. Though the fragile, rarefied outward pieces of the Daughter’s Soul was Shattered (and Sophia is said to have had a rarefied Body—Soul), Her Essence, Her Spirit, did not, could not, shatter, disintegrate. Thus, the Original Immanent Image of the Celestial Mother, She Who is the Holy Daughter, was Shattered, and yet, remained Whole in an of Herself and we, Her Divine Sparks, each were ensouled with Her Soul. She is the Soul of our souls and the Spirit of the Divine Sparks within us. This is the Divine Mystery of the Feasts of Moura and Eastre in the Janite Tradition.

Returning to the holographic analogy: As found in Stanislav Grof’s,  the Holotropic Mind: ‘Unlike normal photographs, every portion of a piece of holographic film contains all the information of the whole. Thus if a piece of a holographic plate is broken into fragments, each piece can still be used to reconstruct the entire image.’

To reconstruct the entire image. That is why Sophia, the Holy Daughter, seeks the Sparks within us, so that She may recreate the Original Image and render us back into that Perfect Hologram in order to reunite us with the Celestial Mother, the Origin of the Image.

But, just as with the brain, where the whole is carried in the part— as the brain is damaged or sections removed, the more it is cut up, the more the memory, though it remains intact, becomes fuzzy, just so, an hologram becomes fuzzier the more it is shattered. Thus, we of the Shattered One are but imperfect, fuzzy reflections of the Divine Daughter, Who is the Immanent Image of the Celestial Mother, Who, in turn, Who comes from the Source, the Great Mother and so we must seek, through Her Grace and Her Sacraments (2) to become ever more perfect reflections of Her. And, we do so out of love of Dea, and, as our scriptures teach, out of love for Her children. We do so by striving through every thought, word and action to draw ever closer to the Holy One rather than retreating further away from Her.

Green Sophia, by Daniel Mirante, contributing artist to the Artists Envisioning the Divine project.

To summarize: In Her desire to be immanent with us, we who are the Children of the Earth/the Children of Dea, after our fall into density, the painful Descent through the denser, lower vibrational Realms proved to be too much for the delicate, rarefied Soul-Body of the Holy Daughter, one which was not protected by a material body and so, it Shattered. We became One in Soul with the Holy Daughter. We contain souls that were given to us out of Her Sacrifice; we contain within our souls Her Divine Sparks.

In Kabbalistic teaching: The Shekinah plays another very important role in the story of creation, and in particular in the Great Plan of humankind.  It is believed that in man’s fall to a denser, less perfect state of being in the physical, the Shekinah stayed with us as we separated from God or were exiled from the ‘Garden’.  Thus, the Shekinah, once again, was voluntarily removed from God/En Sof in order for us to have our experience.  She has always stayed with us, wherever we were exiled or isolated or shut out, the Shekinah was always there in exile and isolation with us. http://www.universalkabbalah.net/Shekinah.

On this day (Kala in the Auroran and Filianic Traditions), Janites spend a day in somber remembrance of this greatest, most heart-rending, soul wrenching, sacrificial myrrh-infused, stopped moment out of time when all the Cosmos holds its breath; the  most knee-bowing, head-veiling, thunderstruck, awestruck, Shining Being witnessed, Ultimate, Primordial Love Sacrifice of the Most Pure and Holy Daughter. She literally gave Herself to us. And, She never left us. She stayed.

In this way, She lives every single moment of every single day with us. Whether we are in pain; whether we experience joy; whether we glory in love or suffer abandonment, She is literally part of us and we of Her and so, She experiences exactly as we do with all our pain, emotions and bliss.

This is the full thealogy of the day of Divine Shattering in the Janite Tradition.

Janites practice the ancient rite of lustration/purification and veil in solemn observance of Her Descent and Shattering on this day, 28 Moura/March 19 (March 18 on a leap year).

May the Queen of Heaven, She Who is the Divine Shattered One; She Who is the Holy Soul of the World; She Who is the Queen of Heaven, bless you and be with you. Blessed is She.

  1. The meaning behind Persephone is a little bit of a mystery. It could derive from the Greek pertho (“to destroy”) or from phone (“murder”). She may be a Greek and Roman goddess, but that doesn’t prove that her name comes from either language. In fact, the multiple spellings of her name in ancient sources suggest that the Greeks found her name difficult to pronounce, which would suggest that it was foreign to them. Some historians believe that worship of her, as well as her mother Demeter, predate the Olympian pantheon. http://bewitchingnames.blogspot.com/2012/10/persephone.html. (Though this is the most common guessed meaning of Persephone, there are those who believe it may mean She Who lightens the darkness.)
