The Deanic Faith of Our Divine Mother God has been in existence, in one form or another, for almost five decades and yet, the worship of Our Divine Lady in Her Triple Form hails from deep antiquity. This is not Neo Pagan, Wiccan or a denomination of the Abrahamic religions.
I am aligned with the Janite Tradition, we are a Path to the Holy One which treads in its own footsteps.
Statement of Beliefs / Creed
THE JANITE DEANIC CREED
I believe that I am created from before the dawn of time
by the Eternal One, Madria Dea;
I believe that She is One and there are none beside Her,
and I believe that She is also Three.
I believe in the Mother, She Who is Pure Light;
the Creator of the Earth and of the Heavens,
and of all the infinite Cosmos.
And I believe in Her Holy Daughter, born of the Holy Mother;
She Who rules all the energies of Creation,
Whose Nature is Perfect Love.
And I believe that there is She, Who stands beyond these Two,
Whose Name has not been spoken on this Earth;
for She is the Beginning and the End,
the First Principle and the Final Cause,
the unoriginated Origin of Being;
the Great Mother of all that is and all that is not;
I believe in the Seven Janati, the Seven Great Powers of Dea.
I believe that they are the Living Streams of Virtue
who flow from the Mother and that together,
these Living Streams form the River of Life.
I believe that I was made a perfect creature,
and I believe that at the dawn of time my soul
did turn from the Perfection of existence,
that I may know of the other things,
for many things I did not know;
And thus gathered I infirmity of my sovereign will;
I believe that through this fault I needs must suffer
the limitation of imperfect being,
to learn and know the other things,
in the increase of my knowledge;
for I know within Her Divine Will,
the darkness must be known
to truly know the Light
and the Dark beyond the light.
And I believe that all Her Will might be,
that the Daughter of Eternity offered Her very Soul
that I might enter this world through Her.

I believe that through Her, we are assumed to Eternal Communion with the Eternal One, Madria Dea, in the Completion of the Wholeness of Her Will.

- We believe that like Sophia/Shekinah, the Holy Daughter suffered a Descent through the Realms in order to become the World Soul or Soul of the World, the Soul of humanity. By taking on rarefied Form, She becomes Soul. In giving Herself to us in this Earthly state of density and isolation, She, as the World Soul, becomes shattered. Thus, She represents the ultimate archetype of selfless sacrifice.
Just as the soul allows for the opposites of body and spirit to unite, so too does the Shekinah play this role for us. Indeed, the Shekinah is the Soul of Man, what Kabbalists call the Neshamah, for She has given a portion of Herself in order for each human to come into being in this world. In giving of Herself to humans, in this state of physical density and isolation, the World Soul becomes shattered. This shattering can be metaphorically grasped in considering what might happen to a glass alembic or flask when too much pressure is put upon in the alchemical works. Thus, the Shekinah represents the ultimate archetype of selfless sacrifice. Belief 1.) Gender is a Divine Principle, a Quality and a State of Being.
This is why it is incorrect to deny that God can possibly have gender.

Mother God / Dea (Day – ah) is Supreme and from Her emanates the female and the male gender.
This is also the teaching of Orthodox Shakti.
Both quantum physics and the Hermetic Principles as found in the Kabalion [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kybalion ] teach that the Principle of male and female permeate and underline the entire cosmos.
There is a difference between a person’s physical/emotional/mental sex and a person’s gender.
Belief 2.) I worship the Divine Feminine Trinity as God. Not with a male father or consort. I know that from a balanced and harmonious belief system that this is not logical. But from an emotional and spiritual viewpoint, it suits my soul path in this life. Some choose to practice a Blended Path such as Deanic Christians, Deanic Jews and Deanic Pagans. Some also honour the Divine Masculine.

Ground of All Being, Ultimate Source, the Supreme Being, Gnostic Monas, the Great Provider, the abundance of the Cosmos.
She is the original Fountain, the Great Cosmic River, from which all else flows.
She is not so wholly transcendent that She is not also with me as I am in Her. We may describe what She is not and we may also describe what She is, as far as our finite minds are capable.

“Before and beyond”, sets this myth outside of time and space, it also states that Dea is the Unoriginated Origin of being and Absolute Deity.
Verse 1 in my understanding, is expressive of the unity of Dea Matrona the Great Mother (alluded to as before and beyond all things), as the Life and Veiled Origin of Eternity, Dark beyond the light and the Light beyond the Darkness, WITH “Mistress of All Things” a title of Dea Madria, our Celestial Mother, Creatrix, Light, Essence and Spirit.
Verse 2 in my understanding is the emanation from Dea Matrona, the Great Mother (sea) of Dea Madria, the Celestial Mother (sky).
The Celestial Mother / Matrix & Creatrix / Dea Matrea / Madria Dea / Dea Madria
Essence, Transcendent, pure Light or consciousness or energy (as in Intelligence, immeasurably greater than a human), Divine Spirit, Heavenly / Supernal Sun, Fiery Rose or the Fiery Rose Heart (Fiery meaning the Eternal Flame of Her Love and Rose is the symbol for Her Heart). High Queen of the Pleroma, the Pure Spirit Realm of Heaven (Rose Garden).
She is the Matrix and Creatrix. Mistress (Honoured Lady in Control) of All Things. Silver Star of the Waters, that has laughed all the world into being.
The Creation scripture expresses the joy and love from the created towards Dea and the unconditional Love and Joy of Dea for creation, which for me was and is the primary attraction of the Deanic Faith.
“Her laughter at the beginning of the world is what made all things – not just humans but all the creatures of the world, including the fish and the insects, and even the plants as well. In my opinion, that is a beautiful view on the beginning of life. That you are born of joy makes life seem a little less bleak at times.”

The Holy Daughter / Ruling and Sustaining Energies of manifest creation / Dea Filia / Dea Domina
Love, Immanent (within Creation), Divine Soul, Princess of the Earth, Priestess of the World, Queen of Heaven (Avala the Apple Orchard), Soteria, (So-tay-ree-a) from the Greek meaning salvation. Soteria is what we would today call the self-actualizing principle, a beneficent force that guides our development, helping us to reach the desired end of salvation, integration and happiness. Parakleton (mediator, intercessor, comforter, helper), Supernal Moon, the gentle light.
It is only through Her Sacrifice, a Sacrifice that entailed the suffering of Her Descent through the Realms which resulted in the Shattering of Her Being as She becomes the Holy World Soul (as is said of both the Shekinah and Sophia) in order to give a portion of Herself to each of us.
This Shattering of Herself, in order to give each of us a portion of Herself, is celebrated with solemn reverence in our Great Liturgy and is the basis for our Communion Rite. It is the action of Pure, Sacrificial Love which sustains not only the Order and Harmony of the Cosmos, but also our very souls and which raises us to eternal life. The Holy Daughter, as the Form, Ruler and Sustainer of Creation, She Who has given us a Portion of Herself, is truly our Soteria, our Divine Canopy of Love.
There are realms in different dimensions. We are in the third dimension, then there are the higher dimensions.
This would be in accordance with both the Filianic and Sophian/Shekinah teachings that the Holy Daughter descended through the realms. In this case, realm can also, perhaps, be translated as dimensions of vibration and frequency. This is why the Descent caused the Holy Daughter so much suffering, because She had to travel from an higher /rarefied dimension/frequency/vibration to a much lower/dense one.
Daughter of Light
Daughter of Light, that reigns as Queen of Heaven, all praise and honor we joyfully give to You. Give us to learn that You are by our side in every act that we make. Metaphysically, silver contains within it, all colour, all colours of creation in potentiality.
In Unity, the symbolic colour of the Janati was silver, before separating into their seven separate jeweled coloured rays.

“In contrast to most Neopagan and New Age based alternative religions, Filianism is one of the few religions which have developed since the 1970s which has a fully articulated set of scriptures. The Filianic scripture is one of the few in the world in which the supreme Deity / Center / Creator of the universe is seen as Goddess as Thea as second to none. Its scripture which provides strong moral guidance and principles is also very unusual within the context of the alternative religious communities in that its moral and ethical instruction is not made up of an amalgam of popular modern psychological maxims, Jungian analysis, and New Age “truths.” On the contrary the morality of Filianism and its scriptures are much more closely related to the best of the traditions of the world’s long lived religious traditions. My Views upon The Scriptures
I do not agree with all The Scriptures because I do not believe that the children of Dea caused a fall from Mother/Heaven.
I have a problem with much of the Creation Mythos after the act of creation, as it is a feminised version of Christianity. A faith that I was not brought up in or ever believed in.
The incorporation of the Sumerian Goddess Inanna’s (Queen of Heaven) descent into the underworld is in my opinion unsuitable. She is not a paradigm of virtue and divinity.
I also do not see any type of divine sacrifice as spiritually beneficial.

Creation / manifestation
As creations in time and space, we cannot conceive of or understand
what before or after time or outside of space means. Non-manifestation, non-time or non-space are beyond our human language or state of being.
Creation / manifestation and the child of Dea’s first journey are closely and inextricably connected.
All begins in Unity with God (undifferentiated from God), who is Pure and Perfect, the development of separate things is the nature of manifestation. Because God is Pure and Perfect, anything that is outside of that, is imperfect. The first child of Dea is ” fulfilling the conditions necessary to manifestation” in journeying out from the Holy Mother. The illusion of worldly existence is the essence of that existence, the first child of Dea is participating in making manifestation possible, but at the same time participating in its necessary imperfection.
Manifestation consists of God and the opposite to God: light and darkness, good and evil, love and hate. Suffering, disease, decay and death are an inherent part of existence outside of the Spiritual. (Death is the transition from one state to another on the turning wheel of Werde).
Our Mother God’s only concern is to provide for and initiate Divine Harmony within the cosmos.

“33. It is love that holds the drop of dew pendant upon a blade of grass, not flowing forth in watery profusion, but swelling within the unseen urn of its brief harmony.

When a child of Dea (axial being) realises what their essence is: Spirit created by our Divine Mother and Soul of our Divine Daughter weighted down in manifest existence by the matter of our body and mind. Then they can begin working on the True Self as opposed to the false self. The True Self is one with Dea whilst the false self is that which leads away from Dea. Life is a constant choice of moving towards the Light or moving towards the darkness. These choices make our Werde / fate. Existence in the manifest realms is a “hard school” for the axial being.

The Eleusinian Mystery rites made up an awesome mystery school in ancient Greece. It has a whole “liturgy” based on a Mother-God and Daughter-God who were separated, descended into hell, had an annual resurrection (Easter). This early Greek “religion” has long been compared to the masculine Father-God and God-the-Son “myth cycle” of Christianity. Cicero was an initiate and dug deeper into this “most famous of the secret religious rites of ancient Greece” (according to Encyclopedia Brittanica). (1)

Please note that these are my own reflections and do not necessarily represent the beliefs of the Deanic religion. These thoughts are based upon a life-time of study. And, I’m going to be lazy and skip the references, today. These are just my own words. This is a conversation, not an article, per se. This is in three parts because it covers diverse levels of our life; the Patriarchal nature of sacrificial theology; why we are here; what is the true nature of manifest reality; what causes the Veil and finally, culminating in that which I experienced when my own father passed beyond the Veil.
The other day, I was speaking with my 89 year old mother about life beyond the Veil, a common topic for this month of Simovane/Samhain. It suddenly struck me that there are still so many who believe that our souls were not created until after we were conceived in our mother’s womb and that we only have this one short life to live; that we only have this one brief space of time to ‘get it right’, so to speak. If we are not pretty close to becoming almost impossibly perfect before we die, then we are not allowed entrance through those great Pearly Gates in the sky. It is as if this Earth has always been our only and true home; as if we have always been ‘from here’, which is not the case in the Greater Reality of things.
Some devotees of other religions are dependent upon a Sacrificial Death of Deity to get them through those Gates. But, in that case, where is the personal responsibility for the evolution of one’s soul, the completion of which, cannot possibly take place within the course of one lifetime? Why allow and accept the torture and gruesome death of Someone Else, for one’s own sins and failures or for the state of the manifest world?
On a personal level, I believe that the idea of an omnipotent God, whether Divine Male or Divine Female, who allows their Divine Son or Daughter to be mercilessly tortured and killed for either the personal salvation of humanity or for the sustaining of all creation, to be a very primitive and unhealthy theology and one which illustrates the limitations of the finite human mind in being able to grasp Divine Will, Power and Reality. I speak of this as someone who believed in this doctrine for the first 40 years of my life. Now, over 20 years later, I see it from a vastly different viewpoint.
In older forms of religion, animals were believed to take on the sins of humans and were slaughtered as an appeasing sacrifice. In the case of Jesus, I don’t deny the reality of his death, but I do not agree with the interpretation of it. Neither did the Gnostics.
In the case of the Mythos of the Daughter, which was written around the 1970’s, I feel that this is a Christianized thealogy which is applied to the Daughter. Much of the Mythos of the Daughter or Divine Maid is very close to the stories contained within the Christian gospels. It is also based on the descent and gruesome death of Inanna, who was a promiscuous goddess of sex and war and did not voluntarily die for altruistic reasons.
Does having a Most Pure Divine Cosmic Supernal Being brutally slaughtered or killed, even in myth-form, for the sins of humanity, or for some type of “original falling or turning away”, or in order to save those in hellish realms, or to repair a broken creation make any more sense than sacrificing an animal for some of the same reasons? No, it does not and it limits the Power of an Omnipotent God to the level of human reasoning and of irrational fear.
Personally, I would not want to be a devotee of a Divine God Who, though He or She has all the Power of the Creator/Creatrix of the multiverse, never-the-less allows His or Her only Child to suffer unspeakable torment for the people of one tiny planet, out of hundreds of trillions of planets, when surely, there was another, less inhumane way to handle a problematic situation.
Even as a Cosmic Myth or as something which happens on a Cosmic Level with the purpose of saving or benefiting all the Cosmos, this thealogy still caters to a violent and very limited human world view and a finite human cosmic view. To say that the entire Cosmic Creation was in need of a Sacrificial Saviour/ess would, of necessity, imply that all beings in the Cosmos were either victims of an original sin or ‘turned away from Our Collective Mother’, because certainly, what we humans might have done cannot affect trillions of other planets; a notion that is not dealing with reality. Either way, humans kill or allow violence to solve problems, not God.
It is estimated that there are about 8.8 billion habitable Earth like planets in our galaxy alone and probably between 100 and 200 billion galaxies in this one universe; let alone the further possibility of other “universes”. Why would we think that the Divine Source of All would send Their only Child here to this itsy bitsy planet, on the outskirts of some remote galaxy, in order to suffer cruelly at the hands of its inhabitants and in accordance with its over-riding barbaric and violent world culture? Even if this happened with the Daughter on a Cosmic Level, this is an anthropomorphic and egocentric theology.
In my view, it is incorrect to think that the Divine, Omnipotent Mother would hand over Her Daughter to Evil. In my opinion, both the ancient and Christian history of this doctrine is Patriarchal in nature and I highly doubt that these violent tales of the torture and brutal death of a Divine Child were written by females. I do not accept a violent Patriarchal theology as a basis for my Deanic Faith.
Ultimately, there is extremely little to validate the belief in a suffering and dying Deity except that it is a belief which came from antiquity during times when life could be quite brutal. It was a very human way of trying to come to terms with the manifested reality in which they found themselves to be.
The only reason we might wish to believe that the All-Omnipotent Creator God sent a Divine Child to die for our sins or for our situation is to make ourselves feel better about ourselves. We need to grow up in our theology and recognize that we are not alone in the Universe. It’s not ‘all about us’. We are part of the greater, universal Whole and that is how we must begin to see ourselves.
There is no cruel sacrifice of Divinity necessary for us to be able to return to our true home after our incarnations in our earthly avatars are over. Nor is such a ‘sacrifice’ necessary in order to sustain the illusion of manifest creation.
We need to move beyond fear-based Patriarchal-style religions into religions that truly reflect the Light of the Great Realm, which is wholly Love and has no taste of torture or death. Patriarchal style religions are those which are missing the Nurturing Feminine Element and so are based upon violence (sacrificial death whether of animals or Deity).
Why would we wish to belong to a religion which contains violence at its very core and upon which all of its doctrines and most of its holy days are dependent?
Many of us did not enter the Deanic Faith only to be faced with yet, another dying and sacrificial devotional cult. For those of us who did, this type of morbid theology was why many of us left our mainstreams religions in the first place.
“Not only is the Filianic mythos of the sacrifice of the Daughter to redeem humankind very similar to the Christian mythos but much of the the story line and imagery of the mythos is clearly inspired by the Christian stories of the Bible. Thus within the “Nativity” story the Daughter’s birth occurs within a cave. While this story is not biblical it did become an integral part of the Christian extra biblical tradition. When the Daughter is born a star shines over her place of birth and a powerful angel is present. Three queens come bearing gifts for the new baby. These and other stories obviously all come directly from out of the Christian biblical tradition.
The orthodox Filianic disclaimer of any direct relationship between Christianity and the Filianic mythos has been to argue that the traditions of Christianity are not original to that religion. These traditions were borrowed by Christianity from the traditional Mother Daughter mythos which dominated the pre-patriarchal, matriarchal world. The Church then transformed these stories to give them a patriarchal tint. Thus the Filianic mythos borrows not from the Christian mythos but from the original pre-christian matriarchal mythos.
However a problem exists with this argument. The fact is that there are little evidence that any descent of ishtar widespread ancient myths have ever existed in which the salvation of humankind has been tied directly to the drama of a dying and rising Daughter who is rescued ultimately by her Divine Mother. If any such myths existed in the prehistoric period prior to 3000 BCE we in fact have no way of knowing that. Certainly with the exception the Demeter Persephone mythos ( we know little of its actual theology), few if any Mother Daughter cults were widespread within the patriarchal Greco-Roman world.”

“While many persons can read the “Teachings of the Daughter” with appreciation because of universal nature of much of its teaching, the other major subsection of the Filianic scriptures which is comprised of the Mythos of the Creation and the Descent of the Daughter is different. This section clearly marks out the distinct nature of Filianic belief which makes it clearly “Filianic” in the same way that the Christian story of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus makes Christianity a unique religion
The Creation Mythos tells the story of the creation of the universe in several stages by the “Mother of all Things. The first creation by the Mother is perfect and unaffected by materiality. For example no darkness, night, or sorrow exists within this creation. All is in a state of pure delight, energy and joy. Then a fall occurs which results in the eventual descent of the universe into matter and physicality. It is then that darkness, night and rest arrive for the first time on the earth. The first Daughter weeps the first tears. The consequences of this Fall is described in this manner. “And the world was beautiful but not so beautiful as it formerly had been.” As a result of this fall the Mother states “I shall not live as close to you as before, but still I shall pour blessings upon you, and you shall give me gifts: not every moment as before, for you have learned to tire.” Again the result of the fall is described thusly, “For a terrible abyss had opened to lie between the world and She, and her creatures could not look upon her brightness.”
In order to repair the damage by the fall of the First Daughter, the Mother conceives and ultimately gives birth to a Daughter “who was not separate from Her,but was one with Her, and the Child of her Light” This Daughter would be called the “Princess of the Light, Princess and Priestess of the World” and “would carry the Light of Dea into every part of creation, even into the most desolate of the places of darkness.” She would act as the mediator between the new more physical world of beings and the Mother.
When the Daughter is born she first rules the earth directly for a time. However ultimately she decides to complete her mission and penetrate even until “the darkness of places” She must penetrate even further into the realms of death and evil to bring the light of the Mother even into these places. Thus the story continues with the Daughter’s descent even into the realm of death, her suffering and death, and finally by her consequent rescue from that realm by the Mother. By her sacrifice the Daughter in fact has redeemed all of reality.
On reading the Mythos many will be struck by many of its strong resemblances to the central mythos of Christianity. That should not be surprising. After all the anonymous authoress of the Filianic Scriptures was a student of Oxford University a center of Christian learning for hundreds of years. It was inevitable that she would have used forms of thought shaped by the Christian mythos to express the Filianic mythos dedicated to God the Mother.”
