Etymology of Moura

Moura meaning dark and death in the Janite Tradition.

This is an inclusive word.

For Janites it suits The Great Mother being ‘Dark beyond the light and Light beyond the darkness’. It also suits the coming suffering of the Holy Daughter/World Soul Di Jana. To me, death meaning an end to this soul path and eventually a return to Dea.

For those who are Filianic believing in a symbolic death, perhaps Moura could also be seen as suitable for them.

Sophia Ruth

Moura is a homonym word with two distinct roots and meanings; one from Celtic *MRVOS, the other from Latin maurus.

The word “moura”, (medieval: mora) feminine of “mouro”, is thought to originate from the Celtic *MRVOS [ ‘dead’, also related to the Welsh marw. ] and the indo-european mr-tuos that originated in Latin the word mortuus and in Portuguese/Galician the word morto (dead). Some authors think that the mouras are the deceased.

There is also a possible relation to the Celtic word mahra or mahr, meaning spirit.”

“Moura In Russian .. Means dark haired beautiful girl”
[ Seems to be referring to Maura 1 ]

“7. MAURA: Feminine form of Italian Mauro, meaning “dark-skinned; Moor.” Compare with another form of Maura.
GENDER: Feminine

Evening Star – Venus – The Great Mother – Roman Era Rose of Venus

This was written by ArchMatrona Georgia on the subject.
The simple answer to your question is as follows.  The Daughter is like the Morning Star because, the morning is a symbol of spring and new life or resurrection.   The Great Mother is like the Evening Star because, evening is a symbol of autumn, death or hybernation.  The Daughter is Dea, just as the Great Mother is Dea.  The Morning Star is Venus, just as the Evening Star is Venus. We are talking about two forms of the same Dea, Daughter and Great Mother, and comparing them symbolically with two forms of the same Star/Planet/Venus.  We are not discussing the physical science of astronomy.

The Rose of Venus – Morning Star

the-morning-star-which-is-the-planet-venus roseofvenus-1799-book-by-james-fergeson

“Astronomy explained upon Sir Isaac Newton’s Principles, and made easy to those who have not studied Mathematics. To which are added, a Plain Method of finding the Distances of all the Planets from the Sun, by the Transit of Venus over the Sun’s Disc, in the Year 1761. An Account of Mr. Horrox’s Observation of the Transit of Venus in the Year 1639: and, of the Distances of all the Planets from the Sun, as deduced from Observations of the Transit in the Year 1761”
1799 book by James Fergeson

The path of Venus (the morning star, the bringer of the light) traced from the Earth’s viewpoint – isn’t that beautiful?

One of the most pervasive symbols throughout the world today is that of the five-pointed star, which appears on the flags of 35 countries. As an ancient, universal symbol, it traces back into the deepest recesses of the collective human psyche. Astrologers are in awe of the cycles of Venus, especially regarding the graceful retrograde dance it does with the vital source of our Earthly light, the Sun, creating a dynamic pentagram in the Heavens above. (1.)

The interconnectedness between esoteric and mathematical understandings of Venus is best exemplified by the Pythagoreans who were the first to systematically study mathematics. Pythagoras and his disciples revered Venus and the pentagram was a key symbol in their secret Brotherhood. (1.)

The Masonic Order has traditionally traced its origins back 2,500 years to the Pythagoreans. (?)

The symbol itself dates back to Roman times, where it was called the “Rose of Venus.” (3.)

The five-pointed star of Venus in the Rose Window at Eglise Saint Remi Chapel in Troyes, France.

This symbol apparently originated as the symbol of a Goddess who was worshiped over an area which extends from present-day England to Egypt and beyond. Her name was Kore (a.k.a. Car, Cara, Carnac, Ceres, Core, Kar, Karnak, Kaur, Kauri, Ker, Kerma, Kher, Kore, Q’re, etc.). As Carmenta she was said to have invented the Roman alphabet. From her alternative Roman name Ceres have evolved many English words: cardiac, carnal, cereal, core, corn, and kernel. The port of Caraalis, (now Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia), was named after her.
Kore’s sacred fruit is the apple. When an apple is cut through its equator, both halves will reveal a near-perfect pentagram shape at the core, with each point on the star containing a seed. Many Wiccans, other Neopagans and Roma (a.k.a. Gypsies) continue to cut apples in this way. The Roma refer to the core as the Star of Knowledge.

During the times of the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament), the pentacle was the first and most important of the Seven Seals – an amulet whose seals represented the seven secret names of God. It was inscribed on King Solomon’s ring, which is often called Solomon’s Seal in error. 4 Each point of the pentagram was also interpreted as referring to the five books of the Pentateuch – the first five books in the Hebrew Scriptures; a.k.a. the Torah. (4.)

The form of the Pentagram, was once used as a symbol of the five wounds of Christ and was known as the Epiphany Star in Christianity. (?)

The cinquefoil (from the french, five-part) is a five petaled rose found mainly in Christian design and architecture of the Middle Ages. The five-petaled rose is often found affixed to the tops of Gothic arches, the vesica pisces-shaped doorways and windows thought to represent the womb of Mary.(3.)

Luca de Pacioli, Leonardo da Vinci’s mathematics teacher, called it the complete embodiment of the golden ratio. (1.)

Einstein and a myriad of scientific, business, and artistic geniuses have structured their work on the 1.6 ratio, believing in its power to manifest beauty, harmony, connection, integration, and progressively higher ways of operating.

By synchronizing our minds and bodies to become attuned to the particular rhythm the Venus Star Point represents,  we attune ourselves to the cosmic energy of the heart – love, compassion, and peace.

Astrology’s language – like art, architecture, music, and nature itself –  is mathematics. [Many] have noted the mathematical significance of the five-pointed star.  Its structure is based on the 1.618 ratio that is known as the “Golden Ratio.”   It’s also known as phi, the divine proportion, or the golden mean.  It is known as nature’s perfect proportion for bringing parts together into a greater whole.

Inherent in the structure of nature is the ubiquitous presence of the 1.6 ratio. Examples include the structures of galaxy spirals, hurricanes, the geometry of DNA, ocean waves, flower petals, and nautilus shells. It is the distance between numbers in the Fibonacci series. It is the pattern of life itself. (2.)

In addition to the mathematical uniqueness of Venus, it also has unique physical qualities. After the Moon, it is the brightest object in the night sky, bright enough to cast a shadow. Being an inferior planet from Earth, Venus is never too far from the Sun and so is its brightest shortly before sunrise and shortly after sunset. For this reason, it is referred to as both the Morning Star and the Evening Star. (1.)

The word pentagram comes from the Greek: “pente means 5 (as in Pentagon). “Gram” comes from the Greek verb graphein, “to write”.  The same ending is found in such words as telegram. Thus, pentagram refers to a five pointed star, or “any figure of five lines.Webster’s New World Dictionary: 3rd college edition

An upright pentagram is a 5 pointed star with one point aligned upwards (4.)

Please Note that our predecessors in the Madrian Faith, had a combined symbol which was a Fora (solar cross, like a Celtic cross with extending arms), five petaled rose of Venus and an upright pentagram (5 pointed star).

They also had a symbol within the rosary of a double upright pentagram (5 pointed star), five petaled rose of Venus with the 5 sacred Seasonal symbols.

Wicca also termed Pagan Witchcraft was introduced to the public in 1954 by Gerald Gardner, a retired British civil servant. Published in 1954, Witchcraft Today recounts Gardner’s thoughts on the history and the practices of the witch-cult, and his claim to have met practising Witches in 1930s England. It also deals with his theory that the Knights Templar had practised the religion,[1] and that the belief in faeries in ancient, mediaeval and early modern Europe is due to a secretive pygmy race that lived alongside other communities.[2]

This was some time before the Madrian Faith was founded in the early 1970s.

The five elements are symbolised by the five points of the pentagram, the most prominently used symbol of Wicca.[80]

The Madrian pentagram is not pagan, having different directions for the 5 elements. It probably arose from studying Pythagoras.

I view the upright pentagram (5 pointed star) as the Star of Wonder, the “epiphany” star announcing the presence of the Holy Daughter in the manifest planes.

The ArchMadria and majority within the Janite Tradition have taken the decision that the upright pentagram (5 pointed star) has been adopted by Wicca and neo-Paganism faiths as their main symbol. Also despite the fact that the pentagram was used in early Christianity, it is still associated with evil, unfortunately.

Therefore the guiding Northern Star is more appropriate.

Mysteria Dea Matrona – Mysterious Great Mother

Mysteria: She Who is beyond comprehension, and yet not an abstract concept or a force, but a person

Matrona: She Who is Our Mother, and yet, not just any mother, but a mother who holds a prominent position of authority and dignity

Mysteria is She who is hidden, concealed, secret, veiled, dark

She is The Dark beyond (not without) the Light: She who is incomprehensible, unknowable

She is The Light beyond the Darkness: the Divine illumination of the pure Intellect, beyond the light of reason, but not contrary to sound reason.

The Dark One creates Life….gives life…governs the seasons…restores all life to wholeness

early 14c., in a theological sense, “religious truth via divine revelation, hidden spiritual significance, mystical truth,” from Anglo-Fr. *misterie (O.Fr. mistere), from L. mysterium, from Gk. mysterion (usually in pl. mysteria) “secret rite or doctrine,” from mystes “one who has been initiated,” from myein “to close, shut,” perhaps referring to the lips (in secrecy) or to the eyes (only initiates were allowed to see the sacred rites). The Greek word was used in Septuagint for “secret counsel of God,” translated in Vulgate as sacramentum. Non-theological use in English, “a hidden or secret thing,” is from late 14c. In reference to the ancient rites of Greece, Egypt, etc. it is attested from 1640s. Meaning “detective story” first recorded in English 1908.

She is Beautiful, and Good and Comforting…nothing about Her is Ugly or Evil or Terrifying.

She is not the Grim Reaper or the Dreaded Death or the Fearful Horror.

When Aristasians warn against the worship of the Dark Mother, they are probably referring to those who worship a “parody” of Her…i.e. Urkala…and revel in horror and evil and terror and death as a negative force. Unfortunately, some of the images of Kali are just that.

The Matrona is She who is the “Great Mother”, or in dearer and more familiar terms, the “Grandmother”, the Mother of All Mothers.  The single title of the “one” Dea Matrona means the Divine Great Mother (Goddess Great Mother) and the plural title of the “three” Deae Matronae means the Divine Great Mothers (Goddesses Great Mothers).  Both of these titles have been used in reference to Dea throughout Europe.   These earthly forms of Dea reflect Her Heavenly singular and triune essence.  The title Matrona is equal to the titles Modron and Magna Meter. The title Dea Matrona is equal to the title Mahatma Devi.

I came across this very interesting article about the life of a Roman Matrona.  The words of the author give us a glimpse of the inner integrity of a matrona and the high regard with which she was held by her family and community.

Why don’t we use the word “crone” to refer to Dea beyond form?

Crone:  What does this word really mean?

Crone is not a feminine version of Chronos meaning Time

Crone is not a feminine version of Corona meaning Crown

Crone: is actually a feminine version of Carogne meaning Corpse

There are no positive or flattering connotations to this title.

It is an altogether negative and insulting term.

late 14c., from Anglo-Fr. carogne, from O.N.Fr. carogne, term of abuse for a cantankerous or withered woman, lit. “carrion,” from V.L. *caronia (see carrion).

early 13c., carione, from Anglo-Fr. carogne (O.N.Fr. caroigne; O.Fr. charogne, 12c., “carrion, corpse,” Mod.Fr. charogne), from V.L. *caronia “carcass” (cf. It. carogna, Sp. carroña “carrion”), from L. caro “meat” (see carnage )

Within my last post I made reference to the Dark Mother or Lady without form. The post of course was also focused on the Janya Aset Melanae who I believe can be legitimately viewed as the Dark Lady, as Holy Darkness or Good Quiet and as a reflection of the Mother without form. None of these aspects of Dea can be legitimately viewed being any form of glorification of the negative or of evil. To give a bit of extra clarification on this subject I am reblogging an article from the My Devotion to Dea a blog owned by Sister Sophia Ruth. The article “Mysteria Dea Matrona” clarifies the subject to a substantial degree. It also includes an additional short discussion of the concept of the Crone which I think is very good.

All LIFE rests in potentiality, within Source or Absolute Deity, the Great Mother, Dea Matrona.
She Who is the ‘Bright Shimmering Darkness’ and the ‘Dark beyond the light and Light beyond the Darkness’ The Ground of all being. Dea is the first, and highest and only necessary “thing” [Intelligence/Spirit] that exists.
Dea Matrona emanated / “breathed out” the Matrix & Creatrix, Dea Matrea, Celestial Mother Mari.

The seed, containing the blueprint and essence of the life of the Apple Tree, is symbolic of the Matrix & Creatrix, Dea Matrea, Celestial Mother Mari, Who, Herself, contains the Supernal Blueprint and ESSENCE of the Tree of Life.
She gathers from Source or Absolute Deity, the Great Mother, the seeds containing the Essence of Life and She births [emanates] them into material manifestation. Therefore, the Holy Mother Mari is, for us: Dea, Apple of Wisdom.

The outer apple represents the material manifestation of Creation. The inner spiritual seeds containing the Essence of Life, taken together with the outer apple of material manifestation represent the two Threads of the Spiritual and the Material being woven together to create All Being, FORM, which is exactly what Divine Soul Di Jana, Apple of Wisdom, signifies.

2. Apple beads x3 in Mashan Jade (Dyed Apple Green Marble)

10mm x3 (41 beads) £3.73 1/2 pence 0.09 pence each x 3 = 0.27  pence

The healing properties of Marble is used as a cleanser which is beneficial for the blood, skin and systems that help cleanse the body such as the lymphatic, digestive system and integumentary system. Metaphysically this stone is beneficial for clarity during tantric activities and meditative states. It aids strength of self control and mastery of thought. It improves total recall of dreams and provides protection, stability and structure of one’s physical, emotional and spiritual facets.

3. three seed beads in clear rock crystal quartz

8mm (6 beads) 0.99 pence 0.1 1/2 pence each = 0.99 pence

Its name derives from the Ancient Greek “krustallos” meaning ice because they believed that quartz was ice that never melted because it was formed by the gods.

Properties – Believed to be the most powerful healing and energy amplifier. It absorbs, stores and releases energy and is excellent for unblocking.

4. “septade” 4x (Earth) beads in Dark Blue Dyed Jade

10mm (38 beads) £4.48 1/2 pence 0.12 pence each x 4 = 0.47 pence

5. “septade” 3x (Heaven) beads in Purple Dyed Jade

8mm (10 beads) £2.96 0.29 1/2 pence each x 3 = 0.88 1/2 pence

Jade is known as the “heart” stone as it enhances all aspects of love, is also known as the stone that brings abundance and is also known as stone for bringing emotional balance and stability. Jade is also known to give self reliance and confidence. is known also for its protective qualities especially with children with illnesses. Jade comes in many shades of green. Jade is more known in ancient times for its toughness. Jade may also come in shades of grey, white, black, yellow or orange or even violet tones.

Type C Jade: This refers to jade that has been color enhanced (to be blunt, dyed). Jade is a porous stone so it is easy and inexpensive to dye. A variety of methods can be used – from sophisticated polymers to as simple as boiling the jade in dyed water. Most bright green jade and purple jade is the result of dye, but clever sneaky jade dealers are also dying the color so that it is subtle and mottled – just slightly better than it was – so that it looks more natural.

Jade Imitations
These are materials that look like jade (sometimes extremely convincingly!) but are not at all jade – not even remotely related to it.
Dyed polycrystalline quartz (aka dyed chalcedony): This is very convincing because it has the same granular-looking translucence as jade (even with a microscope!). You can tell the
difference sometimes because the quartz will take on a higher polish than the jade (vitreous luster vs. waxy luster)

Golden Apple Tree with Roots
4 Ourania/Oct. 6 Abaldi/Thursdaylady-thema

O, Madria Thema, Janya of Justice, Order and Harmony, be with us. May the Pure Stream of your Virtues flow within me, in this world and in all the worlds to come.

13) and still beneath the branches and the bole (trunk) lie the roots in darkness, like unto She that is beyond both being and unbeing. 14) and even as the tree’s roots are not seen, so can there be no knowledge of the Absolute; for to know is to have passed beyond knowledge. (Title 3, Chapter 5 THE SERMON OF THE APPLE SEED).

As the canopy of the tree represents the Love of the Daughter and the trunk represents the Light of the Mother, so do the roots represent the Life of the Great Mother Who is Absolute Deity or the Monas (One). The Great Mother is the Ground of All Being, the Divine Source of the All. Our Celestial Mother and the Holy Daughter find Their completeness within Her.

Some Traditions understand the Great Mother to be similar to the goddess Kali, a goddess of both life and destruction and that is perfectly acceptable from a more Eastern approach to the Divine Feminine Trinity, principally from Shaktism. As such, certain Traditions are careful to not approach the Absolute, directly.

As Janites (along with the Lady of Light Chantry, headed by Rt. Rev. Georgia E. B. Cobb), we tend to be more Western in our approach to the Great Mother. We are Trinitarian-focused in our prayers and rites. We do not fear to approach the Great Mother.

In the same manner, in certain denominations of Christianity, God the Father is understood to be the Ground of All Being/Absolute Deity and yet, the Father is known through His Son and He is worshiped. Christians do not fear to approach the Father.

Tree Roots in the River

Though the Great Mother is the Darkness beyond the light and the Light beyond the darkness and as such, there is much that we cannot know about Her, She is revealed to us through the Divine Mother, the Holy Daughter and especially, through Madria Rhea who represents the Great Mother.

The Great Mother is the Source of the All and so what flows from Her helps us to know Her. She is the Eternal Wellspring of the River of Life and the Eternal Source of the Celestial Mother, of the Holy Daughter, of the Janati and all the living.

Though there is much that is unknowable about the Great Mother, as Our Mother who gave us Life, She knows us, intimately. Though we call Her by Name, that Name is Mystery: Mysteria. (Thanks to ArchMatrona Georgia Cobb.)

The roots, ah the roots in the dark soil, such a fitting analogy for the Great Mother Who is the Root of All Life in Her Shimmering Darkness. In Her Twilight time of day, She is the Sheltering Stars above us. (From our liturgy.) In Her time of the Darkest Hour before the Dawn. She brings us the Light.

12 )Life is the life of the spirit- the First Principle; beyond being and unbeing. Life Was before existence. Life is the cause of existence.

16) Let her (the soul) not trust the ground her feet are set upon and doubt the Ground upon which that ground stands. Rather, let her doubt the sea, the sky, the fingers of her hand and the breath of her mouth; for all these things may be illusions, as, in some sense, they are.

17) But, let her know Life Divine as the Truth beyond truth and the Faith beyond faith and doubt. (Title 2, Chapter 1 THE CRYSTAL TABLET).

In our day and age, in this time of troubled confusion, many have given up on the idea of faith. They feel it is an outmoded idea and tend to forget the strong roots that Faith can bring into our lives and into our hestias (sacred hearth-homes). But, the tree cannot stand, the tree does not have life without the roots that cannot be seen. So deep into the ground do they go, but, they are there.

Some believe it is folly to believe in that which cannot be seen and yet, we learn from quantum physics that the unseen is the source and potential of all that is seen and so it is with the Great Mother.

We know the Holy Daughter, as visions of Sophia have shown, as the sky above us, as the natural world around us and within each of us because the Holy Daughter is the Soul of the World and She is our soul. We are One with Her and through Her, we are One with the Mother and through Them, we are One with the Great Mother/Absolute Deity, though our finite minds lack complete comprehension of this Great Mystery.

We know the Celestial Mother as the Flame in the temple of our hearts and in the love of every mother for Her child. We know Her through prayer, through aeons of generations, through visions, through scripture and through ageless Tradition.

But the One Absolute Root remains buried deep within the cosmic soil. Hidden. Beyond the soil. Beyond the cosmos. Beyond manifest creation. And yet, without that One Root there would be no manifest creation. There would be no life. No soul. No spirit. No Mother. No Daughter. No Janati. No cosmos. No world. No Heaven. The Great Mother is that Still Centre Point of the great Cosmic Fora from Whom the All flows.

Though She is hidden, though She is Mystery, like the Holy Daughter and the Celestial Mother, we may approach Her as we would a beloved Grandmother. In Her quiet Stillness, in Her luminous Darkness, She is always there, waiting.

The Holy Daughter gives us our soul through Her Love.

The Celestial Mother gives us our spirit through Her Light.

The Great Mother gives us life for She is Life.

And that is enough for us to know. As the scriptures state: 15) And from this tree of all knowledge and of the boundaries beyond which knowledge cannot pass, I have given you but the seed of one apple.  18) But, I am not sent to discourse with you upon these matters, but to lead you to deliverance in Perfection. 19) And all the knowledge that shall bring you to deliverance is contained within the seed of an apple. 22) Therefore, when you think upon the questions of life, of time or of the spheres, contemplate first, the seed of Truth and let your thoughts unfold from that seed. 23) Let the pure and single note of Truth attune your souls. Then, shall mind rise up into soul and soul breathe the breath of Spirit. (Title 3, Chapter 5 THE SERMON OF THE APPLE SEED).

Blessed is Our Mother God, the Holy One.

She Who is the Celestial Mother, Mari,

She Who is the Holy Daughter, Kore,

She Who is the Great Mother, Mysteria,

Dark beyond the light and Light beyond the Darkness.

Blessed is She.

May Our Lady bless you,

ArchMadria Pamela Lanides

Candra meaning of the Moon

O, Madria Candra, Janya of Reflection, Reason and Purity, be with us.

May the Pure Stream of your Virtues flow within me, in this world and in all the worlds to come.

The Seed of Truth has always been one of my favorite Deanic scriptures. These are the fundamental scriptures for the Sacred Season of Fall, a time when the fruit of the apple tree has reached its fullness and the Seasons of the Celestial Mother (Summer and Fall) eventually give way to the first Season of the Holy Daughter (Winter).

As we know, when the apple is cut in half, five seeds appear in the shape of a pentagram. This pentagram represents the Seven Janati, the five cardinal directions, the five elements and so much more. The scriptures state that the apple seeds are symbolic of all the Wisdom that is reflected in the Order of the Cosmos.

But the tree itself, it’s canopy, it’s trunk and it’s roots, radiantly represent the Divine Feminine Trinity. The canopy: the Holy Daughter. The trunk: the Celestial Mother. The roots: the Great Mother.

Let us look first, at the Canopy of Love.

Verse 11 from The Seed of Truth: Like to the spreading boughs is the Love that sustains all creation which is fallen from pure Spirit. Love is, of course, the Holy Daughter, Who eternally emanates from the Divine Mother just as Sophia emanates from the Barbelo; Lower Shekinah emanates from Higher Shekinah and similar to the birth of Persephone {or Kore, pronounced Kor-ee, which means, Maid} from Demeter and Sunna from Sol.

The Holy Daughter, as Divine Love, rules and sustains all of Creation. Like the spreading boughs or the canopy of the World Tree, the Love of the Daughter covers all of the Earth. The Energy of Love shelters the All.

As we read in The Crystal Tablet

30) Love is the force of Harmony by which all existence is made possible.

33) It is Love that holds the drop of dew pendant upon a blade of grass…

34) It is Love that holds the stars within their courses and all the worlds of the immeasurable cosmos within the harmony of the celestial music.

35) Truly, all the cycles of the times and the seasons; all the rhythms of the soul and of the mind and of the body; truly all these flow from the love of our Lady, the Maid, that creation may not decompose, each several member flying away into black eternal chaos.

36) ….Love is the form. And it is by Love that the essence of a tree remains a tree.

In every single place where we read Love, we may substitute the Holy Daughter. The Holy Daughter is the Force of Harmony by which all existence is made possible. It is the Holy Daughter Who holds the drop of dew. It is the Holy Daughter Who holds the stars and all the worlds in harmony. The Holy Daughter is the Form and it is by Her that the essence of a tree remains a tree.

Jewish Alexandrine philosophy teaches that Lower (Daughter) Sophia formed and ordered the natural universe and beneath Her are the Seven Planetary Powers.

Rudolph Steiner taught of Sophia: In this regard She is much more than the Creatrix and the Creation. She is the very substratum of the Cosmos and foundation of the Universe. She is the ground of being and the very beingness of existence itself. Just as Shakti is the divine consort of Shiva in this ever-unfolding Play of Consciousness*, Sophia is inseparable from Her Creation much like a tapestry is indistinguishable from the fabric and its threads. The highest understanding illuminates Anthroposophia as the weaver and the weaving, the thread and the fabric, the spinning wheel and the loom, the warp and the woof, as well as the tapestry itself and the space that it occupies. She is both the form of Creation and formlessness from whence it emerged. (1)

Of the Shekinah, we read: The Shekinah is the primordial Light of Creation… the Shekinah is the manifestation of the Feminine Divinity from the unnamed Wisdom Goddess of the Old Testament found in the Jewish mystical systems known as the Kabbalah and Merkavah mysticism. (2) And, like Sophia, She is the World Soul. As Binah, She is the Pillar of Form. (3) And, as this Form, the Holy Daughter orders the Cosmos through Her great love, a love so great, that like Sophia/Shekinah, it caused a great ‘shattering’ of Herself in order to give of Herself.

for She has given a portion of Herself in order for each human to come into being in this world. In giving of Herself to humans, in this state of physical density and isolation, the World Soul becomes shattered. This shattering can be metaphorically grasped in considering what might happen to a glass alembic or flask when too much pressure is put upon in the alchemical works. Thus, the Shekinah represents the ultimate archetype of selfless sacrifice. All Her sacrifices have been for the benefit of creation so that humankind may experience this life in order to fulfill its destiny and purpose. (3). And, this is exactly how we understand the Sacrifice of the Holy Daughter.

urania The goddess, Ourania.

The inner beauty and underlying harmony of our religion is amazing. This is the time of year that is ruled by Madria Thema, Janya of Law, Order and Harmony. In our religion, Fall is a time when we are reminded of the essential Harmony of the Cosmos. It is the time of Twilight when the first stars begin to appear in the skies.

These themes are especially reflected in the names of the first two months of our calendar, Abalon, for the sacred apple of Wisdom or Apple Land and Ourania, which means heavenly or cosmos. Ourania signifies the harmony and order of the universe. (Ourania was the Muse of Astronomy and she was the goddess of music, song and dance, all associated with the creation, order and harmony of the universe, i.e.; the music of the spheres.)

The Holy Daughter is the Divine Canopy which over-shadows and spreads itself over the All. It is only through Her Sacrifice, a Sacrifice that entailed the suffering of Her Descent through the Realms which resulted in the Shattering of Her Being as She becomes the World Soul  (as is said of both the Shekinah and Sophia) in order to give a portion of Herself to each of us. This reminds us of how Persephone must descend to the underworld, like a seed must be buried in the soil, before the Earth may blossom in splendour.

This Shattering of Herself, in order to give each of us a portion of Herself, is celebrated with solemn reverence in our Great Liturgy and is the basis for our Communion Rite. It is the action of Pure, Sacrificial Love which sustains not only the Order and Harmony of the Cosmos, but also our very souls and which raises us to eternal life. The Holy Daughter, as the Form, Ruler and Sustainer of Creation, She Who has given us a Portion of Herself, is truly our Soteria, our Divine Canopy of Love. Blessed is She.

Eternal is the Light of the Mother.

Eternal is the Love of the Daughter.

Eternal is the Life of the Great Mother.

Glorious is the Eternity of Dea.

May Our Lady bless you.

Blessed is She.

The Royal Titles for the Trinity

14 Abalon/Sept. 18

(Sunnadi is, of course, the day of the Sun. The Sun symbolizes the Bright Light of the Celestial Mother. It is also the symbol of Madria Theia. Madria Theia represents the Holy Mother and rules over this day.)

O, Madria Theia, Janya of Illumination, Joy and Benevolence. Be with us. May the Pure Stream of your Virtues flow within me, into this world and in all the worlds to come.

As we know, the Divine Feminine Trinity preceded the Christian Trinity by aeons.

For Janite Deanists, (Day-an-ists) the Divine Feminine Trinity is Dea Madria/Mother God; Dea Filia/Daughter God and Dea Matrona/Great Mother God. Each, in our Tradition, has a royal title (1):

The Holy Daughter has three Royal/Priestly titles:

The Holy Daughter is Princess of the Earth.

24) And the Genia (Janya) said: It is good that you bring your crown, for you are a great princess, but the Holy Child shall be Princess of all the World. (The Mythos of the Divine Maid, Chap. II verse 24.)

…1) To You I give the governance of all these things. 2) You shall command the movements of the waters and the wind shall be Your servant. 3) The seasons of the Earth shall You control and all the times and seasons in the lives of My creatures. 4) Every soul on Earth and in the Heavens shall be given into Your care and the highest stars of the firmament shall know You as their Sovereign….  6) And the Maid ruled over all the world... (The Mythos of the Divine Maid, Chap. II verses 1-6.)

This is reminiscent of both Persephone, who governs the Seasons and of Daughter Sophia, Who is the World Soul and governs Creation.

In Chapter II, the Genia/Janya continues to explain that the Holy Child, like the Goddess Sophia, is the Daughter of Wisdom. ( Lower Sophia is the Daughter of the Barbelo, Who is Higher Sophia, Wisdom, Herself.)

Sophia Come, eat of My Bread and Drink of the Wine I have mixed. These are the words of Wisdom/Sophia as found in Proverbs 9/5.

The Holy Daughter is Priestess of Heaven [mediating to the World]:

30) And the Genia/Janya said: It is good that you bring your crown, for you are a true and loving priestess and a servant of your people, but the Holy Child shall be Priestess of all the world and shall serve Her children even to the last and greatest service. (Mythos of the Divine Maid chapter 2 verse 30.)

16: And She stood at the great Altar and took up a wheaten loaf (for full text see Mythos of the Divine Maid, chapter Seven verses 16- 24.)

The Holy Daughter is Queen of Heaven.

10) And the children of Heaven greeted Her, crying: Hail, Princess of the World; Hail, Queen of Heaven. And they placed a crown of stars about Her head. 11) And the blue night was Her cloak and the stars of the sky, the crown about Her head and the moon lay at Her feet. And they cried again: Hail, Queen of Heaven. (Mythos of the Divine Maid chapter seven verses 10 and 11.)

(We have three versions of the Traditional main prayer to the Divine Feminine in the West, the Hail, Mary. The words are basically the same for each Person of the Trinity, which illustrates that Dea is One. The Hail, Anna version reflects the fact that the Holy Daughter is both Daughter of the Mother and Mother to us all.)

Hail, Anna, [Jana] Fount of Grace, Glory be to Thee. Blessed art Thou, O, Queen of Heaven and Blessed is Thy Beloved Mother. Holy Dea, Daughter God, bless us, Thy children, now and unto the ages of ages. Amen. [‘so be it’]

The Celestial Mother is the Mistress of all Things and from Her flow the Seven Rivers of Life (the Janati and their Powers/Virtues).

1) Before and beyond all things is the Mistress of All things, and when nothing was, She was. (The Creation, Chapter 1 verse 1.)

In Janite Tradition, the Celestial Mother is the High Queen.

Hail, Mari, Fount of Grace, Glory be to Thee. Blessed art Thou, O, High Queen of Heaven and blessed is Thy beloved Daughter. Holy Dea, Mother God, bless us, Thy children, now and unto the ages of ages. Amen. [‘so be it’]

In Janite Tradition, the Great Mother (equal to the Barbelo) is the Empress.

Hail, Mysteria, Fount of Grace, Glory be to Thee. Blessed art Thou, O, Empress of Heaven and blessed are the Beloved Mother and Daughter. Holy Dea, Great Mother God, bless us, Thy children, now and unto the ages of ages. Amen. [‘so be it’]

And so, the Holy Daughter is the Queen of Heaven; the Celestial Mother is the High Queen of Heaven and the Great Mother is the Empress of Heaven. Together, they are One. Blessed is She.

Eternal is the Light of the Mother.

Eternal is the Love of the Daughter.

Eternal is the Life of the Great Mother.

Glorious is the Eternity of Dea.

May Our Lady bless you,

Blessed is She.

Madria Erin’s Devotional Poems/Prayers to the Holy Trinity

Madria Erin’s Devotional Poems/Prayers to the Holy Trinity

Each one of the following is focussed on a different person of the Godhead (Heavenly Mother, the Daughter, and the Great Mother, respectively). I see these three as being inherently connected and could possibly be treated as three parts of one larger poem.

Mantle of Light
Heavenly Mother Mari
Enfold us in thy loving arms
And keep us under thy mantle
Now and for all eternity.
Shining Sun of the universe,
Illuminate our darkest hours,
For we are Your Children,
And You are our Mother,
Our God and Our Creatrix.
Empress of Infinity, keep us.
Blessed are You.

Princess, Priestess, Queen
Princess, Priestess, Queen
Winged with glory and
Crowned with moonlight
Anna of the golden dawn
Daughter of Eternity
Guide us to our Heavenly Mother
In this world and all worlds to come.
So mote it be.

O Great Mystery
O Great Mystery
Veiled Origin of Eternity
The First Principle
And the Final Cause
It is you who gives life,
And you who gives death
That we may have life anew
To guide our souls through profane realms.
O Great One,
Darkness who births the Light,
Mother of our Mother,
We praise You.
Thus may it remain.

The Traditional titles of our Faith for Dea in Her Triune Form are: (Fiery) Rose of Heaven (Fiery meaning the Eternal Flame of Her Love and Rose is the symbol for Her heart) for the Celestial Mother Mari (Dea Matrea), Who is Essence;

Four Extra Ordinary Days

Four Extra Ordinary Days

I differ during these 4 days in my calendar from Clan Jana. This is due to my life partner celebrating his birthday on March 20 or Hiatus.
I also cannot lessen my food/drink intake with a fast. Therefore I have given up chocolate in all forms as I recognised that I had an unhealthy addiction to it.

2016 is a leap year, so this is how I organise my calendar every year:

First Extra Ordinary Day
28 Moura / March 18th
(The last day of the Deanic circle of the year)

The Fast of the Fora

Light Beyond The Dark

The Great Mother as the Life and Veiled Origin of Eternity, Dark beyond the light and the Light beyond the Darkness.
Day of Fast, for those without medical conditions.

Before midnight, my predessesors in the faith would extinguish all candles and hearthfires (electrical lighting, gas fired central heating boilers and gas oven hobs).

I am going to say my Moura Rosary in full with option 2

Here is the link

Directional Circle

I visualise the Fora as a three dimensional figure in glowing gold, with the three lines running north-south, east-west and up-down, all intersecting at the centre, where there is a glowing golden sphere.

This is the one dimensional Fora gesture Here is the link

Let us spend this time in self-reflection and examination. Let us pray that Dea will help us to be faithful to our individual Soul Path and may we always remember that our every act is a choice which either leads us closer to or further away from Dea, Our Divine Mother.

Second Extra Ordinary Day
No date / March 19th
Beyond space and before time
Not a part of the old year nor of the new
A year and a day

Diana hunting by moonlight

Diana hunting by moonlight

Remembering the Holy Daughter as She Descends through the Realms in order to be with us and guide us back to the Union with the Celestial Mother.
Females may choose to wear a veil on this day. Men may wear a beret or Dalix beanie style hat with no cuff, if they so desire.
Day of Fast, for those without medical conditions.

Unless I take the day off work, I cannot reduce activity to a minimum and pray ceaselessly, which would be my natural inclination.
I am not a nun in a closed Order.

The time has come to turn your heart into a temple of fire.

“The time has come to turn your heart into a temple of fire.”
I do pray that my heart temple be fueled and bright, that my soul be pure and good – worthy of carrying my Spirit to the Celestial Realm to be re-united with Dea.

My predessesors in the faith, would be without light, heat or cooking. A physical reminder of the furthest a soul could wander away from Dea before being guided back.

Madria (Priestess) Erin, of Clan Columba – a youth ministry in Britain, sang her poem about The Holy Daughter’s Moura Descent – which is very talented of her.

Third Extra Ordinary Day
Official Hiatus / No date / March 20th
Life Partner’s Birthday
Spring Equinox

Because of my life partner celebrating his birthday on March 20, I do not mark this day as the official Hiatus.
I celebrate his life as my best friend, soul mate, life companion.

Spring (aka Vernal) Equinox

Astronomical seasons meanwhile start on a different dates each year and totally vary in length, depending on the Earth’s 23.5 degree tilt on its rotational axis as well as its orbit around the Sun.

Spring and Autumn equinoxes (equal day and night) and the Summer (longest day) and Winter (longest night) solstices mark the start of the astronomical seasons each year. The word ‘equinox’ itself actually means ‘equal’ (equi) and ‘night’ (nox).

The dates of these change each year as they are dependent on the Earth’s position. The Earth is closest to the Sun, known as perihelion, in early January and furthest away, aphelion, in early July.

In 2016 the astronomical spring will start on March 20 with the spring equinox and end on June 19.

The term vernal might be bit confusing and ambiguous as it is derived from the two latin terms ver and autumnus; meaning spring and autumn. The reason is apparently the opposite seasonal changes in the different hemispheres of the earth.

sun and moon goddess

My Spiritual Thoughts

My own thoughts upon the Spring Equinox day are two-fold.
For on the earth, the view is of equal day and night.
1. That Jana as Princess of The World brings harmony and balance.
2. An earthly sign that Heavenly Mother Mari as supernal sun and World Soul Jana as supernal moon are showing us on earth their Divine Unconditional Love for every soul on earth (in manifest planes of existence).

Fourth Extra Ordinary Day in a seperate post.
