Observing Moura

Observing Moura

From the Matriarch of the Janite Deanic Ekklasia, ArchMadria (Bishop) Pamela.

Moonday/Monday

9 Moura/Feb. 29

~

O, Madria Candra, Guardian of Reflection, Reason and Purity, be with us.

~

For Janites and our sister Ekklesias, Moura is not necessarily a time of ‘giving up’ small pleasures on a temporary basis or attempting ascetic practices. While there are three fast days, our focus is on our Soul Path. It is a time for self-examination and for taking a moment, outside of time, to view our life, in time.

One of the best ways to observe Moura is to take a close look at our daily choices. Which ones lead us closer to Dea? Which ones lead us further away? Every act is a choice and each choice leads us towards Love or away from Love. It either evolves or devolves our souls.

Moura is also the Season of the  Great Mother; She Who is the Veiled Fora of Faith and the Veiled Origin of Eternity. She is represented by the Janya, Madria Rhaya, who is the Fount of the Living Stream of Steadfastness, Temperance and Self-restraint. While daily, we strive to infuse and radiate the 21 Virtues of the Seven Janati, during this Season, we especially focus on cultivating the Virtues of Madria Rhaya.

A Red Deer doe running in Richmond Park

Deer Running Richmond Park

1) Unless your souls be simple as the running deer, My children, and your hearts, as little children, filled with wonder, how shall ye attain liberation? 2) Let your ways be gentle as the milk-white dove and graceful as the gliding of the swallow. 3) For there are ways and rhythms in the course of life, of day and night, of seasons and the moon, by which all life, all thought, all work are governed. 4) and these movements are the breath of the Divine reflected in the highest spheres and every living thing. 5) All nature is vast and subtle music to the soul.

7) Honour, in all things, the times and the seasons, keeping fast in times of fast with diligence and care; rejoicing in times of feast with generous outpouring. 8) No tree may blossom out of season, nor any flower greet springtime with austerity, but a child of Dea, lacking inward control is broken from the rhythm. 9) For her shall there be nor warmth nor cold, shall there be neither light nor darkness. 10) Harmonic life is danced within the music of Eternity and the pattern of the dance is wholeness. 11) But without control shall the dance be destroyed; without discipline is the rhythm shattered in an host of discordant fragments.

The Way of Simplicity, vs: 1-5 and 7-11 from the Sacred Myths and Rites of the Madrians.

During this Sacred Season of Moura, let us take a moment, each day, to consciously choose acts, thoughts and words which bring us closer to Dea and which do not lead us away from Her on our Soul Path.

May Our Lady bless you,

Blessed is She.

ArchMadria Pamela
