This was written by ArchMatrona Georgia on the subject.
The simple answer to your question is as follows.  The Daughter is like the Morning Star because, the morning is a symbol of spring and new life or resurrection.   The Great Mother is like the Evening Star because, evening is a symbol of autumn, death or hybernation.  The Daughter is Dea, just as the Great Mother is Dea.  The Morning Star is Venus, just as the Evening Star is Venus. We are talking about two forms of the same Dea, Daughter and Great Mother, and comparing them symbolically with two forms of the same Star/Planet/Venus.  We are not discussing the physical science of astronomy.

The path of Venus (the morning star, the bringer of the light) traced from the Earth’s viewpoint – isn’t that beautiful?

One of the most pervasive symbols throughout the world today is that of the five-pointed star, which appears on the flags of 35 countries. As an ancient, universal symbol, it traces back into the deepest recesses of the collective human psyche. Astrologers are in awe of the cycles of Venus, especially regarding the graceful retrograde dance it does with the vital source of our Earthly light, the Sun, creating a dynamic pentagram in the Heavens above. (1.)

The interconnectedness between esoteric and mathematical understandings of Venus is best exemplified by the Pythagoreans who were the first to systematically study mathematics. Pythagoras and his disciples revered Venus and the pentagram was a key symbol in their secret Brotherhood. (1.)

The Masonic Order has traditionally traced its origins back 2,500 years to the Pythagoreans. (?)

The symbol itself dates back to Roman times, where it was called the “Rose of Venus.” (3.)

This symbol apparently originated as the symbol of a Goddess who was worshiped over an area which extends from present-day England to Egypt and beyond. Her name was Kore (a.k.a. Car, Cara, Carnac, Ceres, Core, Kar, Karnak, Kaur, Kauri, Ker, Kerma, Kher, Kore, Q’re, etc.). As Carmenta she was said to have invented the Roman alphabet. From her alternative Roman name Ceres have evolved many English words: cardiac, carnal, cereal, core, corn, and kernel. The port of Caraalis, (now Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia), was named after her.
Kore’s sacred fruit is the apple. When an apple is cut through its equator, both halves will reveal a near-perfect pentagram shape at the core, with each point on the star containing a seed. Many Wiccans, other Neopagans and Roma (a.k.a. Gypsies) continue to cut apples in this way. The Roma refer to the core as the Star of Knowledge.

During the times of the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament), the pentacle was the first and most important of the Seven Seals – an amulet whose seals represented the seven secret names of God. It was inscribed on King Solomon’s ring, which is often called Solomon’s Seal in error. 4 Each point of the pentagram was also interpreted as referring to the five books of the Pentateuch – the first five books in the Hebrew Scriptures; a.k.a. the Torah. (4.)

The form of the Pentagram, was once used as a symbol of the five wounds of Christ and was known as the Epiphany Star in Christianity. (?)

The cinquefoil (from the french, five-part) is a five petaled rose found mainly in Christian design and architecture of the Middle Ages. The five-petaled rose is often found affixed to the tops of Gothic arches, the vesica pisces-shaped doorways and windows thought to represent the womb of Mary.(3.)

Luca de Pacioli, Leonardo da Vinci’s mathematics teacher, called it the complete embodiment of the golden ratio. (1.)

Einstein and a myriad of scientific, business, and artistic geniuses have structured their work on the 1.6 ratio, believing in its power to manifest beauty, harmony, connection, integration, and progressively higher ways of operating.

By synchronizing our minds and bodies to become attuned to the particular rhythm the Venus Star Point represents,  we attune ourselves to the cosmic energy of the heart – love, compassion, and peace.

Astrology’s language – like art, architecture, music, and nature itself –  is mathematics. [Many] have noted the mathematical significance of the five-pointed star.  Its structure is based on the 1.618 ratio that is known as the “Golden Ratio.”   It’s also known as phi, the divine proportion, or the golden mean.  It is known as nature’s perfect proportion for bringing parts together into a greater whole.

Inherent in the structure of nature is the ubiquitous presence of the 1.6 ratio. Examples include the structures of galaxy spirals, hurricanes, the geometry of DNA, ocean waves, flower petals, and nautilus shells. It is the distance between numbers in the Fibonacci series. It is the pattern of life itself. (2.)

In addition to the mathematical uniqueness of Venus, it also has unique physical qualities. After the Moon, it is the brightest object in the night sky, bright enough to cast a shadow. Being an inferior planet from Earth, Venus is never too far from the Sun and so is its brightest shortly before sunrise and shortly after sunset. For this reason, it is referred to as both the Morning Star and the Evening Star. (1.)

The word pentagram comes from the Greek: “pente means 5 (as in Pentagon). “Gram” comes from the Greek verb graphein, “to write”.  The same ending is found in such words as telegram. Thus, pentagram refers to a five pointed star, or “any figure of five lines.Webster’s New World Dictionary: 3rd college edition

Please Note that our predecessors in the Madrian Faith, had a combined symbol which was a Fora (solar cross, like a Celtic cross with extending arms), five petaled rose of Venus and an upright pentagram (5 pointed star).

They also had a symbol within the rosary of a double upright pentagram (5 pointed star), five petaled rose of Venus with the 5 sacred Seasonal symbols.

Wicca also termed Pagan Witchcraft was introduced to the public in 1954 by Gerald Gardner, a retired British civil servant. Published in 1954, Witchcraft Today recounts Gardner’s thoughts on the history and the practices of the witch-cult, and his claim to have met practising Witches in 1930s England. It also deals with his theory that the Knights Templar had practised the religion,[1] and that the belief in faeries in ancient, mediaeval and early modern Europe is due to a secretive pygmy race that lived alongside other communities.[2]

This was some time before the Madrian Faith was founded in the early 1970s.

The five elements are symbolised by the five points of the pentagram, the most prominently used symbol of Wicca.[80]

The Madrian pentagram is not pagan, having different directions for the 5 elements. It probably arose from studying Pythagoras.

I view the upright pentagram (5 pointed star) as the Star of Wonder, the “epiphany” star announcing the presence of the Holy Daughter in the manifest planes.

The ArchMadria and majority within the Janite Tradition have taken the decision that the upright pentagram (5 pointed star) has been adopted by Wicca and neo-Paganism faiths as their main symbol. Also despite the fact that the pentagram was used in early Christianity, it is still associated with evil, unfortunately.

Therefore the guiding Northern Star is more appropriate.
